Alegria Yoke Pullover

My second project finished in this GAL 2015 is this lovely sweater. The pattern is Alegria Yoke Pullover, by Marcela Chang.

I used some Drops Merino Extra Fine in light beige-grey, with the yoke and bind-offs in turquoise and pale yellow. The yarn grew a lot after washing, but I had anticipated by knitting the smaller size and making the body and sleeves way less long that what they should be so now they are perfect.

It is a very nice pattern. I really enjoy knitting color yokes (I'm a huge icelandic sweater fan). This one is knitted from the top, so the neck is just the right size. I didn't do a provisional cast on and started with the neck band right away to save some time.

What I most loved about this pattern was the two-color i-cord bind-off. It's very fun to knit and the result is amazing ! I also love how the two-colors in the yoke create some sort of optical illusion.

Mon deuxième projet de ce GAL 2015 est ce joli pull. Le modèle est Alegria Yoke Pullover, de Marcela Chang.

J'ai utilisé de la laine Drops Merino Extra Fine en beige-gris, avec le yoke et les bordures en turquoise et jaune pâle. La laine s'est beaucoup étendue au lavage, mais j'avais anticipé en tricotant la plus petite taille et en faisant le buste et les manches beaucoup plus courts qu'ils ne devaient l'être, donc maintenant ils sont parfaits.

C'est un modèle très chouette. J'adore tricoter les yoke colorés (Je suis une grande fan des pulls islandais). Celui-ci est tricoté de haut en bas, ce qui fait que le col a pile la bonne taille. Je n'ai pas fait de montage provisoire de mailles et j'ai commencé directement avec le col pour gagner du temps.

Ce que j'ai le plus adoré dans ce modèle c'est la bordure i-cord avec deux couleurs. C'est très sympa à tricoter et le résultat est superbe ! J'adore aussi la manière dont les deux couleurs du yoke se mélangent pour créer une sorte d'illusion d'optique.

Today, I'm featuring a designer from Philadelphia, Ruth Brasch. She makes beautiful textured and cabled designs.

I especially love her Bad Wolf Bay cowl, inspired by a famous scene from Doctor Who. The cowl is made in Aran yarn with a beautiful lacy pattern. It's on my list of things to make during the GAL (but this list is getting longer and longer...)

Almost Aran Fauxbius is a cowl in Aran weight yarn with a beautiful cable pattern like the ones we usually find on irish sweaters. It has a fauxbius twist that make it look so comfy and elegant !

And last, but not least, these Ode to summer hats are so cute with their delicate flower pattern ! They are made in worsted weight yarn and are available in all sizes from newborn to adult L. It would look so pretty on a child, I'll definitely keep this pattern in mind for when I need to make a gift for a little girl.

Aujourd'hui, je vous présente une créatrice de Philadelphia, Ruth Brasch. Elle créé des modèles aux beaux motifs à texture et torsades.

J'aime en particulier son col Bad Wolf Bay, inspiré par une scène bien connue de  Doctor Who. Le col est fait avec une laine Aran et un beau motif en dentelle. Il fait parti de ma liste de modèles à tricoter pendant le GAL (une liste qui ne cesse de croître de jour en jour...)

Almost Aran Fauxbius est un col en laine Aran avec de belles torsades comme celles d'un pull irlandais. Il possède un fauxbius twist qui lui donne un air si confortable et élégant !

Et pour finir, les bonnets Ode to summer sont trop mignong avec leur délicat motif floral ! Ils sont faits avec une laine worsted et sont disponibles dans toutes les tailles, du nourisson jusqu'à l'adulte Lt L. Ce serait tellement joli sur un enfant. Je le garde dans un coin de ma tête pour quand j'aurai besoin de faire un cadeau à une petite fille.

Today's post is about Cheryl Chow, an american designer from Washington State with amazing stranded designs and beautiful garments.

Strand Up Hat is my absolute favorite. I love the pretty stranded designs, and the colors she chose are exactly my colors ! I think I'll cast it on very soon, hopefully I will have time to make it during the GAL ! It is knitted in 5 ply sport yarn.

GAL 2015 - Designer Aet Terasmaa

Today I'm featuring a designer from Estonia, Aet Terasmaa. I'm amazed to see designers from all over the world joining together in this GAL !

Aet Terasmaa designs a wide variety of accessories, from scarfs to hats, shawls, mittens.

Here are my favorites :

Crossroad Wraps is a triangular shawl in garter stitch with pretty stripes and an original construction in three pieces, shaped with short rows. It is made in 5 ply sport yarn.

First snow mittens are stranded mittens in 4 ply fingering yarn, with 15 different snowflakes ! I love how they all look together.

Flower Princess Shawl is a beautiful lace shawl in 2 ply yarn. It has an original construction to make this beautiful crescent shape. I really love the delicate geometric leaves patterns.

Aet Terasmaa créé une grande variété d'accessoires, des écharpes aux bonnets, en passant par les châles, les mitaines.

Voici mes préférés :

First snow mittens sont des mitaines en jaquard tricotées avec une laine fingering 4ply et qui comportent 15 flocons de neige différents ! J'adore l'association de ces beaux flocons sur des mitaines.

Flower Princess Shawl est un superbe châle en dentelle fait avec une laine lace 2ply. Il possède une construction original qui lui donne cette belle forme en croissant. J'adore les délicats motifs géométriques de feuillage.

Toutes ces belles créations me font rêver de visiter les forêts estoniennes.

GAL 2015 - Designer Barbara Lösche - Wildniskristalle

Today, I'm featuring a german designer : Barbara Lösche at Wildniskristalle. Her ravelry store has many beautiful shawl and stole patterns, and even though I'm not the biggest shawl knitter I admire her very delicate designs inspired by celtic mythology, tales, nature elements...

Here are my personal favorites :

Ailean - Winterblätter / Winterleafs is a triangular shawl in fingering weight yarn with a beautiful diamond-shaped pattern.

Gràinne Rain Shawl is a shawlette in lace yarn. The name Gràinne means "the one who strikes awe" and the design represents all the different elements striking during a thunderstome (clouds, rain, water running on the floor, and lightning). But it's so delicate that to me, it captures perfectly the calm after the storm.

Beitiris is a tulip shaped shawl in lace yarn with three parts representing the three task Simpleton has to fulfill in the tale The Bee Queen by the Grimm brothers.

I love how Barbara puts an interesting and poetic meaning in each of her designs.

Aujourd'hui, je vous présente une créatrice allemande : Barbara Lösche de Wildniskristalle. Sa boutique ravelry a de nombreux beaux châles et étoles, et même si je ne suis pas une grande tricoteuse de châles, j'admire beaucoup ses délicats designs inspiré de la mythologie celtiques, de contes, d'éléments de la nature...

Voici mes favoris :

Ailean - Winterblätter / Winterleafs est un châle triangulaire en laine fingering avec de beaux motifs en losange.

Gràinne Rain Shawl est un petit châle en laine lace. Le nom Gràinne signifie "qui sème la crainte" et le design représente tous les différents éléments qui se déchaînent pendant un orage (les nuages, la pluie, l'eau qui ruisselle sur le sol et les éclairs). Mais il est si délicat que pour moi, il saisit parfaitement l'instant du calme après la tempête.

Beitiris est un châle en forme de tulipe en laine lace avec trois parties qui représentent les trois tâches que doit accomplir Simpleton dans le conte La Reine des abeilles des frères Grimm.

J'adore la manière dont Barbara donne à chacune de ses créations une signification intéressante et poétique.

GAL 2015 - Designer Meridith Shepherd

On my tour of the amazing designs the GAL has to offer, I found a great designer with colorful, simple yet very elegant designs. Meridith Shepherd lives in Missouri, USA, she's been designing for 5 years and has a nice selection of patterns on sale for this GAL (with the coupon code giftalong2015).

Amongst those patterns, one in particular caught my eye : Color Infusion, a beautiful stranded cowl in fingering weight yarn with two sides slightly different to vary with your mood and your look ! 

I've decided to knit it for my mother as a christmas gift. I bought some soft alpaca yarn a while ago in brown, red, grey and yellow and I've been looking for for the perfect cowl to make her. I finally found it !

Au cours de mon petit tour de tous les superbes modèles disponibles dans ce GAL, j'ai trouvé une talentueuse créatrice, qui fait des modèles simples mais élégants. Meridith Shepherd vit au Missouri, Etats-Unis, elle créé des modèles de tricot depuis 5 ans et possède une belle sélection de modèles en solde durant le GAL (avec le coupon code giftalong2015).
