I wrote a post on Instagram at the beginning of the month about Slow Fashion. It was part of Slow Fashion October and I want to share it here too because the concept of slow fashion is very important to me in my everyday wardrobe and in my work as a knitwear designer.
I shared this piece, which is one of my favorites because it was made by my grandmother in the 80s for my mother who then gave it to me last year. I am so proud when people compliment it and I can say that my grandmother made it. When my mother and I were talking about this ensemble a few days ago, she told me about the times when she went fabric shopping at the Marché Saint Pierre with her mother and sister. My mother was very good at choosing the fabric for the design they were planning, my aunt sketched and my grandmother had the talent to make anything they wanted. It sounded like such a happy memory!
When I think about why I am a knitwear designer today, I'm proud to say that I'm following in their footsteps while creating my own thing. I write knitting patterns because I want to help people make clothes they are proud of, clothes they will love and wear for a long time (or give to someone who will!)

J'ai partagé cet ensemble, qui est un de mes vêtements préférés parce qu'il a été fabriqué par ma grand-mère dans les années 80 pour ma mère qui me l'a ensuite donné l'année dernière. Je suis tellement fière quand les gens le complimentent et que je peux dire que ma grand-mère l'a fait. L'autre jour, ma mère et moi parlions de cet ensemble, et elle m'a raconté quand elle allait acheter des tissus au marché Saint Pierre avec sa mère et sa sœur. Ma mère savait bien choisir les tissus, ma tante faisait les sketchs et ma grand-mère avait le talent pour réaliser tout ce qu'elles imaginaient. Ça avait l'air d'être un si beau souvenir !
Quand je me demande pourquoi je suis styliste tricot aujourd'hui, je suis fière de dire que je m'inscris dans leur héritage tout en créant quelque chose qui m'est propre. J'écris des modèles de tricot parce que je veux permettre aux gens de faire des vêtements dont ils sont fières, des vêtements qu'ils vont aimer et porter très longtemps (ou donner à quelqu'un qui les aimera et portera !)
